Morning Workout Group
Community Education morning workout group will meet each weekday morning from 5:30 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. in the High School gym. Cost is $10. The group will be using a combination of free Weights and fitness videos. When using the fitness videos you will be following along with the video instructor. The exercises are intense. If you would like to join group, contact Advisor Randy Dahl (218) 416-2427. $10 Registration fee.
Firearms Safety Training (April 8 - 7:00 p.m.)
The Agassiz Rod and Gun Club will offer the Minnesota Firearms Safety Course to boys and girls in the Newfolden Area. The class is for those who are interested in hunting and shooting. A registration night will be scheduled on April 8 at 7:00 p.m. in the Newfolden Elementary Cafeteria. A parent or guardian must come to registration night with participating students. Class dates and test dates will be announced at registration night. Participating students must be 12 years old by November 1, 2014. There is no maximum age. The class will cover safe gun handling, gun safety in the home, care and storage or firearms, marksmanship, and hunter responsibility. There is no course fee but participants must pay for certification online are they pass the exams. Students will receive a certificate and an arm patch upon completion. This course is sponsored by the Agassiz Rod and Gun Club. If you have questions, please contact Devere Chapman 218-874-4763. Shannon Converse, certified Zumba instructor, will continue to offer Zumba fitness sessions. The sessions have been well attended this year and have been very rewarding for participants. You may choose Tuesday night sessions, Thursday night sessions, or both. Sessions will be from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday sessions will be April 8, 15, 22 and 29. Thursday sessions will be April 10, 17, 24 and May 1. Registration for each session is $15. If you choose both sessions the registration is $30. Drop-ins can come to any session for $5. Sessions will be in the elementary gym. The Zumba program fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and moves to create a one-of-a-kind fitness program that is easy to do and fun! You just have to move your body and follow the instructor's lead. The instructor advises you bring comfortable workout clothes, shoes, water, and a hand towel. 5k/10k Running Preparation
Have you been interested in running a 5K or a 10K and want some help getting started? Instructor Lori Lindholm will host a 5K/10K group on Wednesday evenings starting April 9 and running until June 25. Participants will meet in the high school library at 6:30 p.m. Lori will share some important basics about nutrition and preparing for runs and then the rest of the time will be spent running together. The end time each night would be about 8:00 p.m. High school students will be available if you need some child care while you participate in the trainings. Registration is $25 for the entire 12 week program. Interested participants should pre-register with Patty Wagner in the Newfolden Elementary Office (218) 874-8805 by April 8. AARP Driver Refresher
MCC Community Education is pleased to offer the AARP Driver Safety Program. It is the nation’s first and largest course for drivers age 50 and older. It has helped millions of drivers remain safe on today’s roads. Individuals should pre-register by calling 874-8805 or by stopping by Newfolden Elementary School. The class is instructed by Jeff Hanson and will be held in the grade 6 elementary classroom. The refresher course will be held on April 21 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Registration is $15.00 payable to AARP. Participants must bring in their Driver’s License.
