Babysitting Safety Class (May 2 - 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Registration $15)
Darcy Hestekind will help babysitters learn what information they need to know when they are responsible for young children in the home and what they need to do if there is an emergency situation. The instructor will teach safety related to babysitting and will instruct the participants on basic first aid. Participants will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the class. You must be at least 12 or turning 12 this year to participate. The class will be held in Newfolden Elementary Room 111. A minimum of 3 participants is required or the session will be rescheduled. AARP Drivers Safety (May 14 - Full Course 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m./Refresher May 15 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.) Registration $15
MCC Community Education is pleased to offer the AARP Driver Safety Program. It is the nation’s first and largest course for drivers age 50 and older. It has helped millions of drivers remain safe on today’s roads. Individuals should pre-register by calling 874-8805 or by stopping by Newfolden Elementary School. The class is instructed by Jeff Hanson and will be held in the grade 6 elementary classroom. The full course will be offered on May 14 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and the refresher course will be held on May 15 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Registration is $15.00 payable to AARP. Participants must bring in their Driver’s License.
Container Gardening Seminar (May 20th - 7:00 p.m. Debbie Ornquist’s Greenhouse in Middle River)
Marshall County Master Gardeners, Deb Peterson and Debbie Ornquist, will host a Plant Your Own Container Garden seminar on Monday, May 20th at 7:00 p.m. at Debbie Ornquist’s Greenhouse. The address is 39995 St. HWY 32 E, Middle River, MN. The master gardeners will show several plant arrangement designs. People attending can bring their own containers for planting if they wish. Flowers and vegetable plants will be available for purchase and instructors will provide guidance for planting.
Summer Swimming Lessons
Summer swimming lessons will be offered for MCC students through the Warren Pool. Lessons are available for students who are just completing kindergarten up to sixth grade. The Warren pool has scheduled one week for Viking & Holt area children and one week for Newfolden area children. Registration is $40.00. This covers each student’s swimming lesson and one hour of open swim following the swimming lesson. Please register through the school even if you plan to transport your child yourself. We will inform the pool that you have paid. Paid registration is due to the school offices by Friday, May 24. Registrations will not be accepted past this date. Prior to starting lessons, parents should contact Warren Pool at 218-745-4777 to inform coordinators about what level of swimming lessons your child should receive. Bus picks up at 12:00 p.m. Community Center in Holt and 12:30 p.m. at Viking Elementary
Students will arrive back in Viking about 3:30 p.m. and Holt about 4:00 p.m.
Newfolden Children – July 15 through July 19
Bus picks up at High School Loop at 12:00 p.m.
Student will arrive back in Newfolden about 3:45 p.m.
