Renly Rehm

Congratulations!

During I Love to Read Month of February, 2nd-4th graders in Newfolden Elementary have participated in D.E.A.R. once a week. It means Drop Everything And Read! They don't know when it is, which builds up their anticipation. They all will gather in the halls and quietly read. I personally love to see the participation. Students are excited about their books and it builds a strong community in our elementary school!

Donuts with Dad will be held tomorrow (Thurs. 2/20) morning at Viking Elementary from 8:15 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. For space, we ask that children limit guests to 1 person (Dad, Grandpa, Uncle, etc.)This will be an open house and guests are invited to have breakfast and visit your child/grandchild's classroom. Just a reminder if you are meeting your child/grandchild off the bus at the school in the morning, the bus arrives at Viking Elementary at approximately 8:20 a.m.

Viking students have been busy reading this month! We have a school wide goal to read 1,000 books throughout the month of February. When students fill up a reading sheet, they get to color in hearts displayed on a poster in the entry hallway. We are so close to filling up the hearts! Great job to all the students!

Kindergarten and First Grade students from Viking Elementary performed their winter concert this afternoon. The kindergarten group sang an arrangement of Christmas and holiday songs under the direction of our music teacher Erika Olson. First grade students performed the musical, "A Bugz Christmas" which included speaking parts as well as multiple songs, also under the direction of Mrs. Olson. Great job to all the students!
