Dear Families, March 20, 2020 I want to take some time to assure you in the event the Governor moves schools to distance learning we will be sending out learning materials to your students. We are arranging the first round of these materials to be sent so they would arrive March 30-31 will be designed to be independent work that your students will find initial success. Teachers will begin to reach out to students next week to ensure our communication with families is working and ready if we move to the distance learning model. Meals: We had sign ups for over 180 meals for next weeks meals. They will be served from Newfolden Elementary School. These meals are free of charge for all children 18 and younger. We are working on expanding meal service with additional pick up sites starting March 30.. Childcare: The state has expanded who is eligible for child care services. Free Meals - starting Monday (This is a change from parent letter) We will make arrangements for families wishing to receive school meals during this break. This will be in place by Monday, March 23. The meals will be grab and go and need to be picked up at Newfolden Elementary. Lunch and breakfast food for the next day would be provided. This is an opt-in opportunity. We ask families to call the district (by Thursday 3:30) to order meals for the following week. March 18, 2020 Dear MCC Families: MCC Staff have worked hard the last two days making plans and preparing school work for our students. Our support staff worked hard to help clean our schools, clean our buses, and will be helping further in the event of a longer term closure of schools. Meals: So far we have nearly 80 orders for meals for each day next week. The meals will be grab and go and need to be picked up at Newfolden Elementary. Dear Parents, The events surrounding the COVID 19 illness are constantly evolving and we appreciate your patience during this time as we have schools closed March 17-27 to prepare our school for the event the Governor extends the closure. Please know the safety of our students, staff, and community are of prime importance. We are cooperating fully with the Governor’s order to work on planning so we can provide educational resources in a distance learning arrangement in the event of a longer closure. On Monday, we will use the time to prepare students and ensure they know expectations should this closure be extended. Students will bring home school supplies and any learning materials that may be essential during time off. We will not have any distance learning during the break but students who are behind and need to make up work can use these days off to get caught up following our existing policies. We will mail out learning packets with instructions if closure is extended. We will make arrangements for families wishing to receive school meals during this break. If you are a member of the emergency services profession (law enforcement, fire department, EMTs and/or the medical profession (direct care staff) that has school aged children enrolled in our school system from kindergarten to age 12, we will have child care available for your school age children if you need the service starting Wednesday, March 18. Child care would be available from 7:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Please follow all advice in regards to personal health and safety. Thoroughly and frequently wash hands using soap and water, cover sneezes and coughs, clean frequently touched surfaces, practice social distancing (3-6 feet separation) and stay away from large gatherings of people. We encourage you to keep your children at home during this break until the situation improves. Governor Walz announced this morning closures of all schools to students in Minnesota beginning Wednesday, March 18 through Friday, March 27. MCC Schools will have school on Monday, March 16. This will help us get our children prepared in the event of a longer school closure. The school will be closing Tuesday, March 17 - Friday, March 27 for students. There will be teacher in-service on Tuesday and Wednesday. All Activities, Parent Teacher Conferences, and Drivers Education meeting are cancelled.

Cooperative schools are allowed to practice together. We will follow this protocol. They will make a decision in April on Spring games/Events

The Father Daughter Dance set for March 15th has been cancelled due to Minnesota department of health prompting to reduce large gatherings. We are hoping there will be an opportunity to reschedule this spring. Refunds will be given out next week.

A Community of Hope as been postponed until further notice.

We have created a page on our school website to provide families with current information regarding the COVID 19 Virus and how we are responding at school. We sent home a letter today with all students. If you did not receive a letter, please refer to website and it has a link to the letter. When we update information we will change the date at the top of the page so you know you are receiving up-to-date information. We are following guidance by the Minnesota Department of Health and the Minnesota Department of Education. We receive frequent updates from them and are watching changes as the situation evolves. A Community of Hope: Join us on March 23. A partnership was formed to bring in keynote speakers and a panel of experts to increase knowledge of risks, share warning signs, and provide resources for suicide awareness and mental health. A dinner and child care will be provided.

When to keep my child home from school.

The Roseau Boys Youth Basketball Tournament for Saturday has been postponed due to incoming weather. Date is to be determined.

Robotics meet scheduled for Saturday has been postponed to Monday, January 20. Robotics students should arrive at school by 6:45 am.

Due to incoming storm GBB practice cancelled today. BBB vs BGMR postponed. Night of Fine Arts on Saturday postponed. All Freeze Hoops practices Saturday canceled. We will sent out an announcement about Roseau Youth Boys Basketball tournament as soon as we get an update.
