MCC Alert: We've seen an uptick in stop arm violations recently. We had two just this past week. With slippery roads, please slow down and drive carefully especially around our school buses! We report and share stop arm footage for incidents with law enforcement. Slow down, focus on the road, and please stop at a safe distance when you see our school buses at bus stops. Help us keep or students, bus drivers, and yourself safe!!

Just heard from coordinators, JH BBB in Roseau later this afternoon is also cancelled.

Due to poor road conditions JH GBB will not be traveling to Roseau today. Freeze Hoops has also been cancelled due to weather and power outage in Viking.

Construction Update at MCC HS 11/30: Work continues to progress on framing and roofing of exterior. Gym Roof and fitness center roof are water tight and temp heat is being installed so inside work can begin. 5th and 6th grade classroom wing exterior and interior are framed. They are working on roof work and installing door frames inside. The Cafeteria/Kitchen and Commons are being framed and roof trusses are being installed. Plumbers will install piping underground. They are starting to install outer sheathing. Southern half of east parking lot is available for staff use during school day. The whole parking lot is available for games and evening events. There is a temporary gravel walkway from the parking lot to our main sidewalk that leads to front entrance.

Construction Update Viking 11/30: The front entrance was approved for opening this week. Principal's office is open and being used. We are moving items into office work area and Sarah's area. Exterior brick has been completed. Driving by now, scaffolding is gone. In the North addition they are now installing ceiling tile with flooring next. The staff/family bathroom is getting tile installed.

We celebrated Veterans Day at MCC today with our annual Veterans Day Program held in partnership with Legion Post 427. Our grade 3-12 students and staff attended along with many in the community. The ceremony included keynote speaker ABF First Class Boatswain Adam Sethre, Legion presentations to members and active service member Cameron O'Hara, Quilts presented to six area veterans by local chapter of Quilts of Valor, and music/art from MCC Students. Thank you to all who participated and helped with the program. Our students were very respectful and it was an honor to provide the ceremony with the Legion Post 427.

Snowmobile Safety Training Information: There will be a Snowmobile Safety Training on Sunday, December 3rd at 12:30 p.m. The training will take place at the Todd Swenson Residence, 14312 330th St. NW, Newfolden. (West of Newfolden, first place after the propane tanks on North side of HWY 28). Please text Jenni Lee (218) 688-1507 to confirm participation. In order to receive certification: 1) Complete MN Snowmobile Safety Class online snowmobilecourse.com (there is a fee you must pay to take the course) 2) E-mail or text your completion certificate showing percentage and chapter percentage: jenalti.jl@gmail.com or 218-686-1507 3) Attend the hands-on class at Todd Swensons After passing both the online course and hands-on class, students then go to DNR Website to pay state fee and receive their Snowmobile Safety Certificate. https://www.dnr.state.mn.us/safety/vehicle/snowmobile/index.html Participants should be turning 12 or older. Certificate becomes valid when student becomes 12 years old. This training will be held whether there is snow or no snow.

Construction Update from MCC High School (11/3): The snow and icy weather did slow some things down but there is progress continuing. The east classroom addition is getting steel installed on the roof deck. That is nearly complete. Steam beams are installed for the commons/cafeteria area. It is really beginning to take shape. Roof trusses are being installed in hallway area that will access kitchen, custodial area, and bathrooms. Steel walls were installed in the kitchen area. East Parking lot is starting to be used for contractor parking. They will install a fence that will divide north half for contractors to use and south half for employees/patrons to use.

Construction Update From Viking (11/3): Today countertops were installed in the Viking Office area. There will be a passthrough window where Sarah can see and help someone directly in the front entry. Right now a temporary window is there. The work area has cabinets and a work counter. The music room area has been sheetrocked, taped, and textured. Kitchen storage area is getting sheetrock installed. Brick work has begun.

Good Morning MCC!! The new lights in the bus loop are on this morning! They will be great for dark mornings and to light up area for school evening events.

MCC Families, We hope it's not needed, but it is that time of the year so we want to remind parents about our E-Learning Days. We can utilize up to 5 in a school year if we need to close school due to weather. High School students should use their Chromebooks to access Google Classroom. There may be some college classes that require student to use Zoom or Google Meets due to seat time requirements. If we utilize an E-Learning Day we will do an announcement to families either the night before or around 6:30 a.m. on the day of closure.
