Dear Families,
I would like to take a moment to follow up on a communication I sent to you yesterday evening regarding an alleged threat made by one of our elementary school students.
The threat was first reported to local law enforcement for investigation. Due to our legal obligation to maintain student confidentiality, we cannot share further details at this time.
What I can share is that our schools are safe. I have spoken with the county sheriff this morning and he noted there is no credible threat to our students at this time. School has resumed as usual today. Out of an abundance of caution, the Marshall County Sheriff's Office will have an increased presence at our elementary school today.
I also want to take this opportunity to remind all students of the serious nature of making threats to school safety. We take all potential threats very seriously. If you see or hear anything that could present a safety threat, notify a teacher, staff member, or another trusted adult right away.
Thank you for your attention to this update. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Jeffrey Lund
Superintendent/Elementary Principal

MCC Alert:
There was a complaint made to law enforcement this evening about an alleged threat made between students at school today. We take all reports and complaints seriously and are cooperating with the law enforcement investigation. We are not allowed to disclose specifics about the incident due to data privacy. We will work with law enforcement as they complete their investigation.
The County Sheriff assured me it is safe to send students to school Thursday. To help piece of mind, we've asked for law enforcement presence and the sheriff told me they will have a deputy on site at the schools in the morning who will check in throughout the day.
I apologize for the late timing of this message but wanted to take the time to assure you that it is safe to send students to school on Thursday. Safety of our students and staff are of the highest priority.
Thank you,
Superintendent Lund
